Gene Bruno, MS, MHS, RH(AHG)
Mr. Bruno has earned a Master of Health Science degree from the University of New England, a Master of Science degree from HCHS, and an Advanced Diploma in Herbal Medicine from the Australian College of Phytotherapy. He plans to begin working on his Doctor of Health Science degree from HCHS in 2014. Mr. Bruno is also Board Certified in Holistic Nutrition (National Association of Nutrition Professionals), and holds certifications as a Nutritional Supplement Formulator (Solid Dosage Training, Inc), an Accrediting Commission Evaluator (DEAC), a Registered Herbalist (American Herbalists Guild), an Evaluator of Distance Learning Courses For College Credit Recommendations (American Council on Education). In addition he has Certificates of Completion in Human Participants Protection Education for Research Teams (National Institutes of Health), Training in DSHEA, NLEA and other Regulations in the Natural Products Industry (R. Flora & Associates), and Treating Learning Disabilities with Nutritional and Sensory Motor Therapies (New York Institute of Child Development). Mr. Bruno is the author of Ailments & Natural Remedies and A Guide to Complementary Treatments for Diabetes, and coauthor of the Medicinal Herb Primer.
Having procured much of his advanced education via accredited distance learning venues, Mr. Bruno is extremely well versed in distance education. These venues include American Academy of Nutrition, Huntington College of Health Sciences, American Health Science University, Australian College of Phytotherapy, University of New England and Capella University. Mr. Bruno has completed doctorate level coursework in online curriculum development through Capella University, and has also completed certifications as an Accrediting Commission Evaluator (DEAC), and an Evaluator of Distance Learning Courses For College Credit Recommendations (American Council on Education).
For 20 years Mr. Bruno served as the Vice President of Education for Great Earth Companies, Inc., the franchisor for a West-coast based chain of vitamin stores. In that capacity, he developed both residential and distance education training programs. The distance education programs were delivered by via correspondence and via an online learning platform. In 2005 Mr. Bruno was awarded the Nutrition Business Journal’s award for having developed the best training and customer service program in the natural products industry. In his current position as Vice President of Regulatory Affairs & Development at New Vitality (a dietary supplement company), he has developed training materials in both print and online delivery formats (Moodle). Mr. Bruno has over 30 years experience in both distance and resident education.
